Artist Biography
Renowned Taiwanese abstract artist Jo Hsieh (謝貽娟) was born in Taiwan in 1967. In 1991, she moved to London to further her studies and obtained a master's degree from the Royal College of Art in the UK in 1998. She later settled in the UK before returning to Taiwan in 2015 to complete the final stage of her artistic journey. Jo Hsieh passed away in Taipei in September 2017.

The self-portrait series is a precious collection in Jo Hsieh's artistic career. From 1993 to 1999, over the course of six years, she created a self-portrait every day, exploring her inner self. In these works, the use of different materials reflects her diverse artistic styles and mirrors the various appearances she exhibited in the eyes of her family, friends, and elders.
