About the Self-Portrait Series
Jo has been creating self-portraits since 1993, exploring the inner turbulence and restless spirits within herself. Starting from self-portraits, she continuously explores,organizes, and ultimately transforms into a purer, more singular version of herself. Just like the different styles of Jo created with various media in her self-portrait series, the way she is perceived by family, friends, classmates, and teachers also shows entirely different aspects of her. Life is full of twists and turns, where what seems like an obstacle at first can later be looked back on with amusement. How to untangle complexities and heal wounds will be presented one by one in Jo's self-portrait series. Through this, she hopes to help viewers gain a deeper understanding of their own inner world.
